Shopify's affiliate page says Shopify adds commissions to your balance once a month, on the 22nd.
The program requires a minimum balance of $10 USD before affiliates can make withdrawals. That is what the page states. Below that balance, you cannot make a withdrawal.

Rules affiliates must follow under Shopify's affiliate terms
Shopify's affiliate terms set rules for affiliates. Here is what the terms say.
- Affiliates may not promote Shopify on coupon, deal, or discount sites.
- Affiliates may not buy pay-per-click keywords that use Shopify trademarks.
- Affiliates must clearly disclose that they are paid for referring merchants to Shopify.
- A store the affiliate owns cannot count as a referred merchant for pay.
The last one matters. You cannot refer yourself and be paid for it.
