Who Etsy says the program is for
Etsy's affiliate page says its Affiliates program is for bloggers, media and editorial publications. If your site fits one of those groups, that is the audience Etsy names. Etsy's page does not list other kinds of sites it accepts, so do not assume your site qualifies just because it is not named here.
Who Etsy says is not eligible
Etsy's affiliate page says cashback sites and voucher sites are not eligible for the program. If you run one of those, Etsy has said no already. Other exclusions may exist. Read the program's own terms before you apply.
How Etsy says commission is earned
Etsy's affiliate page says commission is earned on each qualifying sale, excluding tax, shipping, returns and cancellations. That means the sale itself counts, but the add-ons and reversals do not. A returned order does not earn you commission under this rule.
Do not rely on a commission rate you read on some other site. Check the program's own page for the current figure, and note the date you read it.
When Etsy says commissions are validated
Etsy's affiliate page says commissions are typically validated 30 days after the sale date. Count from the sale date, not from the end of a month. The word "typically" matters. It is what Etsy's page says, not a promise for every sale.

Etsy sellers and the affiliate program
Etsy's affiliate page says Etsy sellers are free to apply to both its programs. So running an Etsy shop does not stop you from applying to the affiliate program.
